Event Director, Cindy Jensen was inspired during a trip to Thailand, after walking through an outdoor maze of colour, culture, flavour, rhythm and surprise.

Embarking on the approval process in late 2013, Cindy had no idea how the concept would be received and is overwhelmed at the interest and support from talent, vendors, community, volunteers and local businesses.

After only it's inaugural year in 2014, Buskers by the Creek took out the award for LIVE MUSIC EVENT OF THE YEAR in teh 2015 Gold Coast Music Awards and was recently named QUEENSLAND'S BEST NEW EVENT at the Australian Event Awards.  The festival was also named a finalist at this year's awards. ​

Recognised for it's initial success, Buskers by the Creek caught the interest and imagination of more than 20,000 people in 2015.  A firmly family friendly event, crowds enjoy the various artists across 13 different stages,   all set with the backdrop of the beautiful natural environment of Currumbin Creek.

Take-home souvenir copies will be available from our volunteer crew stationed in the festival tents - make sure to bag yourself a copy!  It's FREE!  It's also available to download and print on our website - stay tuned.

We'll be serving up flavour and flair on stage and on your plate!

Tastes of Persia, Italy, Spain, Jamaica and Mexico are just a few of the featured cuisines that will tempt the taste buds of our 2017 crowds.

about the bar

2017 will see a 'NightQuarter Bar' within the festival grounds and their team will be serving up a variety of beverages to quench your festival thirst.  There's a stage within the bar area, with live music kicking off from 10.30am both days.  18+ only permitted.  If you haven't been to NightQuarter in Helensvale, check out their upcoming event calendar at www.nightquarter.com.au

about the SIDE STREET EVENTS

'Battle of the Buskers' sees our top emerging singer/songwriters battle it out on stage in fight for the 'Totally Talented' title.  7pm kick off at the Currumbin Creek Tavern on Friday 13th October. 
 

about the parking

We've got loads of options this year to keep those parking tickets at bay!

Currumbin Primary School have kindly opened their oval gates and will be offering $5 parking - it's just around the corner from Winders Park, on Philip Street.  The gates will be manned by their teachers and volunteers, with all funds generated going towards much needed educational material. 

 

​Parking is also available across the road from Currumbin RSL, in the grass area behind the Veterans Support Centre.  The cost is $5 per car with 100% of funds donated to the Veterans Support Centre.  On SUNDAY ONLY, there will be a courtesy bus shuttle rotating between the Currumbin RSL foyer to the festival grounds all day.

A designated "Drop Off Zone" will be stationed along Duringan Street, for those wishing to drop off family, friends or equipment before heading to find a park.  Look out for our welcoming volunteers dressed in top hats and wide grins!

We promote walking and cycling to the event, but for those opting to use public transport, a bus departs from The Pines Shopping Centre on an hourly basis. 

Given the unique venue, on-street parking is the main option and some leg work will be required.  When parking, we thank you for being mindful of our neighbours and not obstructing access to their properties.  Happy neighbours = annual event approval!

about the BARKING

BBTC is open to all, so your pooches can also kick back and enjoy the festivities. Remember: no leash = no entry.

about the kids zone

All entertainment is family friendly, with the added bonus of a Kids Zone incorporating arts, crafts and music related activities. 

Karma Kids will be offering hands-on craft andmany other kids entertainment and activities will be stationed within the zone.  Childminding is also available, with the Karma team giving you the opportunity for some child free time over the weekend.  For all booking enquiries contact Skye on 0407 400 518.  Happy kids = Happy days!

Crazy kids rock band, Red Rocket 3 will also be dishing out entertainment for the kids within the space.

Tony and Dee from Vivid Entity will also be on-ground, teaching juggling and hula skills to kids and adults of all ages.

about the park facilities

In order to accommodate the international food vendors and entertainers, internal carparks will be closed from Friday 13th October, to 5pm on Monday 16th October.

Winders Park is home to a number of BBQ areas which will be accessible throughout the weekend.  Toilet facilities are also available within the park grounds.

For those opting for menu alternatives, there is a selection of nearby takeaway food outlets and restaurants - keep an eye out for their festival specials!

about first aid

Not that we expect any injuries, but we'll have qualified first aid personnel on site and they'll be easily accessible from the information tents. 

ABOUT WHAT TO BRING

We recommend you pack a picnic blanket or your favourite camp chair and lay claim to your preferred position.  A beach umbrella wouldn't go astray either and remember, SLIP, SLOP, SLAP!

No worries if you forget your money honey!  Thanks to ATM's On The Go, an ATM will be accessible at the event.  If you've not saved up enough buskers coins, we've also got you covered!  Our 'buskers tip picks' will be for sale in $10 packs - remember a busker is someone who entertains in a public place for donations!  Remember to TIP!
